The Central Virginia Workforce Development Board, through Virginia Career Works Central Region, recently provided $3,225 to the Town of Altavista to help offset training costs for two water utility employees.
Pauline Brown and Paul Hill successfully completed the Virginia Rural Water Association's Living and Leading with Integrity Master Practitioner training.
The funding was provided through the Board's Incumbent Worker Training program, which uses federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds to reimburse eligible employers for a portion of the cost of training existing employees. The program helps businesses and local governments strengthen their workforce through professional development while sharing the cost of training.
The Board congratulates Brown and Hill and commends the Town of Altavista for investing in employees who help provide clean, safe drinking water to the community. Funding is available to other employers in Central Virginia seeking to upskill their workforce. For more information or an application, contact Tim Saunders at tim.saunders@vcwcentral.com.
