The CVPDC in 2025 launched the Water Relief Mini-Grant Program to provide up to $4,500 in funding to support the installation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) to improve water quality in local area streams and Chesapeake Bay tributaries.
Camp Kum-Ba-Yah was awarded $4,500, matched by $1,000 in agency contribution, to install permeable pavers at its Addison Amphitheater. The pavers, located at the bottom of a hill, not only capture stormwater and sediment before entering a local stream, but also provide a flat surface for safe viewing.
Kyle Simpson, Executive Director, Camp Kum-Ba-Yah, noted, “The CVPDC’s recent grant has enhanced Addison’s Amphitheater, creating a durable and environmentally conscious seating area that beautifully projects a local stream and provides a level platform so that more guests, including those with mobility limitations, can gather and enjoy the nature center.”
