On April 24th, the Central Virginia Workforce Development Board collaborated with CVCC, Campbell County, C&C Piping & Fabrication, and Southern Air to create the 8th annual Welding Wars.
Central Virginia Welding Wars is a competition that brings together high school students, college students, and professional welders to compete in a series of tests to assess their skills. It is designed not only as a competition, but also as a way to connect aspiring welders with local employers.

Welding Wars has been held over the past eight years in response to the regional shortage of welders. The event gives students a chance to demonstrate their abilities, see what professional-level work looks like, and make connections with companies that are hiring. The event has grown into more than a contest. It also serves as a workforce recruitment effort and a way to build interest in welding careers.
