The Central Virginia Workforce Development Board works year-round to unite workforce agencies across the Lynchburg region, encouraging collaboration and breaking down silos to better serve both employers and job seekers.
One way this collaboration comes to life is through the Central Virginia Business Services Team, which brings together more than 15 workforce development professionals under the Virginia Career Works Lynchburg Center. The team meets monthly to share updates and coordinate services for employers, and four times a year, they invite local businesses to join the conversation. These employer sessions help identify workforce needs and connect businesses directly with the economic and workforce development partners who can help meet them.
On August 7, the team met with Centra, one of Central Virginia’s largest employers, for an in-depth discussion on the company’s major initiatives and the training and talent needs they will generate. Members also toured Centra College and the Center for Simulation and Virtual Learning. The visit offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships and explore new ways to support Centra’s workforce goals.
