We are midway through updating our regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) with our consultant team, Short Elliott Hendrickson. The CEDS is a five-year strategic plan to strengthen and diversify the region's economy that increases our communities' access to federal support for economic development.
Last week, we connected with local government staff, business owners, and nonprofit leaders to collaboratively create a picture of our region's economy. Next step: strategy development.
A CEDS Plan should set the foundation for economic development work and build capacity for completing that work. It should also establish an understanding of interconnectedness and a mindset for collaboration, while ensuring that the region is eligible for federal grant funding from US EDA.
