Helping educators understand local labor market trends and high-demand career paths is the focus of an ongoing initiative supported by the Central Virginia Workforce Development Board.
The Educator Workforce Academy, launched by the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance in 2024, is a two-day, retreat-style event designed to give K–12 educators firsthand insight into the region’s career landscape. The second annual academy took place on July 24 and 25, bringing together dozens of school counselors, teachers, and administrators for business tours and interactive workshops.
Participants visited Aerofin, BWXT, Centra, Delta Star, Framatome, and Southern Air, meeting directly with company leaders to learn about their operations and talent needs. They also explored training opportunities at Central Virginia Community College and discovered community employment resources to share with their students.
The ultimate goal is to equip educators with the knowledge and connections they need to guide students toward rewarding careers in Central Virginia. Staff from the Central Virginia Workforce Development Board were proud to support the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance in planning and delivering this impactful event.
