In today’s apprenticeship system there are over 1,000 occupations available to help workers prepare and train for jobs including those careers in Healthcare, Information Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics and Energy? You are invited to partner with the Region 2000 Workforce Development Board to strengthen the Region’s existing Registered Apprenticeship system.
Established, growing businesses that have identified critical needs in their workforce such as high turn-over positions, difficulty in identifying applicants with the right skill set, difficulty in attracting diverse applicant pool, pending retirements in highly skilled positions, can ultimately benefit from the development and registration in an apprenticeship program to address these needs.
Registered Apprenticeship (RA) is a proven approach for preparing workers for jobs while meeting the business needs for a highly-skilled workforce that continues to innovate and adapt to the needs of the 21st century.
To become part of the workforce system by developing and registering a RA or for more information on becoming a Registered Apprenticeship contact Wendell Walker at (434) 385-0806 ext. 105 or wendell.walker@doli.virginia.gov .
DID YOU KNOW, that if your business is already a Registered Apprenticeship that WIOA staff is available to pre-screen participants for apprenticeship opportunities and make quality referrals to businesses? Additionally, all the traditional services for WIOA participants including individual training accounts, supportive services, work experiences and on-the-job training continue to be available to bridge participants to employment where RA programs exist. For more information about placing your RA on the Eligible Training Provider List contact Ben Bowman at 434-845-5678, ext. 221 or bbowman@region2000.org
