The James River Association (JRA), in partnership with the Robert E. Lee and Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation Districts, will be planning 3,000 trees at farms along various tributaries of the James River this spring!
Volunteers Are Needed for the James River Tree-Athlon
Join local volunteers to plant native tree seedlings along streams on various properties within Amherst County to reduce sediment and bacteria from entering the James River. Numerous dates and times are available in March and April. All ages are welcomed; tools and instruction will be provided.
JRA will host a James River Tree-Athlon Thank You event on May 19, 2018 in Lynchburg/Amherst County at the Riveredge Park office. The fun volunteer appreciation day will include lunch and the opportunity to enjoy a 6-mile paddle or 3-mile tubbing trip on the James.
