In February, 2017 Governor Terry McAuliffe announced $879,760 in Community Development Block Grant funds to help communities in Appomattox County rebuild from the damage that occurred due to the Category 3 Tornado that tore through a 16-mile stretch of Appomattox County in February 2016.
Matt Perkins, Special Projects Manager with the Region 2000 Local Government Council, worked with Appomattox County Administrator Susan Adams and other County staff members and volunteera over a sixty-day period to complete the successful application. Matt will be administering the grant funds and reconstruction efforts over the next 18 – 24 months.
