Appomattox County, with funding provided through the Department of Housing and Community Development CDBG Urgent Need, continues to support those families and homes still in need of assistance to fix and repair damage from the February 2016 tornado event.
Having received funding in the amount of $879,060, the County has currently identified five homes in need of housing rehabilitation, four homes suitable for substantial reconstruction and two substandard structures, those beyond repair, for demolition.
The Urgent Need funding is being utilized to meet those serious and immediate needs of tornado area residents and benefit primarily low-and-moderate income persons and support the long-term recovery in the project area. With consideration to available grant funds, the project team will continue to identify eligible projects through the conclusion of the project in June 2019.
