Amherst County continues to implement projects that will benefit the Old Town Madison Heights community. The County, working in coordination with Amherst County Service Authority (ACSA), has received another grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD).

The County has been awarded $500,000, which will be matched by $250,000 from the ACSA, to rehabilitate approximately 2,400 feet of sanitary sewage through the installation of Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP), a trenchless pipe replacement procedure. The Amherst County Construction Ready Project will be combined with the Main Street Improvement Project, a CDBG multi-year project, to implement improvements along Main Street the entry corridor into the historic Madison Heights community. Both projects are anticipated to begin later this summer.
