The Central Virginia Workforce Development Board is designated as the regional workforce convener by the Chief Elected Officials and is responsible for coordinating workforce development at all levels. By engaging employers, education/training and human services organizations the Workforce Development Board addresses workforce issues and develops solutions for current and prospective business needs to provide a skilled labor force at the regional level.

The mission of the CVWDB is to:

Provide the primary connection between our two customers—businesses and jobseekers—ensuring demand is met with a highly qualified supply of applicants

The CVWDB provides oversight and support for the VA Career Works- Central Region with the mission

to advance economic growth by preparing and connecting individuals with Virginia businesses looking to hire and build a stronger workforce.

The CVWDB is responsible for administering and overseeing the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s (WIOA) Adult, Dislocated Worker and Youth programs in the Central Region.  The CVWDB coordinates programs that are designed to assist job seekers access employment, education, training, and supportive services in order to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in today’s economy.
