The Central Virginia Workforce Development Board wants to partner with working and retired professionals who have a passion for young job seekers and want to invest in their future. The board’s Virginia Career Works youth program is launching a new “Career Mentoring Service,” which will connect young people to an expert in their career pathway.

Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce at its annual Excellence in Business ceremony honored Traci Blido as 2020 Citizen of the Year. 

Since July 1, 2021, workforce system staff has served 30 unique businesses, held eight hiring events or job fairs, and provided three businesses with Existing Worker Contracts to help retain the companies and train key workers.

Two new employees will begin work at the Region 2000 Service Authority. 

The FY 2021 Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) NOFOs for the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant programs will open on Sept. 30, 2021.

Safety on our roadways depends on mutual respect and understanding that all users have shared road rights and responsibilities. 

Starting September 1st Bedford Town residents and visitors will have access to public transit, on the new Otter bus. 

GLTC is holding several sessions to seek public input on proposed route changes. 

CVPDC is announcing its partnership with Virginia Housing to advance affordable housing in the region.
